Maintenance Free Home Build @ Moon-Farm

Neuroscientists define “awe” as an emotional response to something grand and glorious, which can alter our existing views of the world. Experiencing awe can even confer health and emotional benefits, such as a reduction in stress or an increase in overall well-being. One way to experience awe is to be in the presence of great art.

My husband and I are in the presence of great art every day: we live in it. Not a day goes by that we don’t acknowledge that fact and express how much we love our home. We are so happy that we trusted Lamar Valley Craftsman with its creation. We knew from our first meeting that Barry and his team would bring our vision to life.

A well-designed and constructed house is a gift. Barry Schram understands this. He selects his entire team based on this philosophy. Ours was a complicated build, comprising several innovative techniques and materials, but every single person involved with this project gave their all toward making this house truly awesome.

Modern Masterpiece

Selecting the right contractor is a lot more important than just picking the lowest bid.  A homeowner’s experience of the home-building process is strongly reliant upon the builder’s character and personality.

Barry at Lamar Valley Craftsman is an amazing communicator. He knows the importance of building a professional relationship with the homeowner based on trust, integrity and his knowledge of construction.  Barry assists the success of a project by providing valuable feedback during design that helps drive important decisions.

He gets to know his clients; he learns how to best guide them and when their input is required, and maintains a thorough, well organized, and transparent project management process.  His charisma, care, and commitment to the project’s vision is a testament to his strength as a team player.

We had never built a home before but decided we wanted to do that once! We are so grateful we chose Barry Schram and Lamar Valley Craftsman to help us through that experience!

Barry was so easy to work with and really had our best in mind. He worked diligently with us during the design and budgeting process, helping us to come up with a design that we both loved and could also afford to build. Barry was extremely reliable through the process. He never ‘let go’ but stayed with us to the end and has even kept in touch afterward. We are very satisfied with the quality of Barry’s work.

The results show and we are very happy with our new home! We would definitely recommend Lamar Valley Craftsman to anyone looking to build a new home – and actually, already have!

Country Estate

My husband and I built our dream forever home while living a thousand miles away. This required us to put a great deal of trust in Barry.

Barry did not disappoint; he did what he promised, to perfection, and built for us a home that even surpassed our dreams. Our friends and family have difficulty believing this, but it is the truth – Barry did not exceed the original budget for our home!

At the walk-through upon completion of our home, our architect made the comment that this was the first time a residential builder had ever precisely followed his architectural plans; that many times a builder will not do so to save time or money.

Barry is a man, and a builder, of integrity. When we first met Barry he told us that building a home is a journey. We are most grateful Barry was on the journey with us.

Old Town Classic

Lamar Valley Craftsman built our home in Old Town, Fort Collins. During the process, their team of well-organized project managers lead us every step of the way.

From making key structural decisions to staying on timelines and deciding on key design features—the LVC team was top notch. Barry leads his team with integrity and efficiency.

With his long-standing reputation in Northern Colorado, Barry is able to attract the most professional contractors. We cherish our custom home and highly recommend Lamar Valley Craftsman.

Hidden Pond Jewel Box

While doing research on builders, Barry’s Lamar Valley Craftsman kept popping up at every turn so we took that as a sign and gave him a call. We immediately clicked with Barry and together with an amazing architect, our custom home was designed and built.

We found Barry to be passionate and committed as well as patient and a problem solver. He was very environmentally conscious, kept a clean/safe job site, finished on time, and honored his flat-rate service fee. We were very hands-on clients and he met with us on a weekly basis and made adjustments/suggestions to meet our needs and improve the design.

Barry put his heart into our project and between him, his team, and our architect, we ended up with a beautiful energy-efficient home that is unique and fits our lifestyle perfectly.

Barry saved our house build! We had a terrible experience with our first company and turned to Barry for help. He patiently heard our concerns, reviewed progress on our project, and stepped in to build our house the right way.

Everyone from our superintendent, Cody, to the subcontractors were wonderful to work with and did a great job. The attention to detail and quality of work in our home shows and guests often comment on the extra touches that make our house fit our style so well.

We Consider Ourselves So Lucky

We consider ourselves so lucky that we found Barry Schram to build our dream house. Everyone told us that designing and building our own house would be a nightmare that would strain our marriage of 45 years.

Because of Barry’s calm personality, professional guidance, honesty, attention to detail, and superb team of assistants and contractors, the experience was actually fun. In fact, it was one of the most satisfying things we’ve done as a couple.

We love our house and people who see it always give rave reviews. As proof of our immense satisfaction with Barry, five years after moving into our house, Barry and his team just completed finishing our basement. It too turned out beyond our expectations. We would highly recommend Barry to anyone looking to have a pleasurable experience building their dream house.

Old Town Modern

The collaboration between all parties involved was instrumental in the success of the project, and I would without hesitation recommend Barry & The Lamar Valley Craftsman team for any project.

The project presented a unique opportunity- a large site for redevelopment in the heart of the Eastside neighborhood in Fort Collins. The project site is within a transition zone between three different era’s of neighborhood development, allowing additional freedom in the design aesthetic and style while still relating to the scale and character of the adjacent neighborhoods.

The design of the new home and carriage house is a contemporary aesthetic which focuses on indoor-outdoor connections and reflects an Architecture of the current time and place as opposed to a duplication of the past, while utilizing exterior materials and window sizes that tie into the scale and character of the adjacent structures.

Lamar Valley Craftsman and Barry Schram did a beautiful job of managing and crafting this project. From assisting with site selection, to selecting a design team, to conceptual estimating and assistance with decisions to completing the actual construction and finally making the owners very comfortable when they moved in.

I know Scott and Lisa were very appreciative of their new home and how they were taken care of during the entire process.

Old Town Fort Collins Remodel

I recently had Lamar Valley Craftsman remodel my Old Town home almost from top to bottom. Barry was involved from the start, participating in meetings with the architect to come up with the right design to fit my needs.

Barry’s experience and forethought (not to mention his patience!) to many details I had not thought of were invaluable and added greatly to the final design. He then provided a cost estimate and timeline (both adhered to remarkably well), as well as a schedule of when decisions needed to be made (invaluable).

As the construction progressed, I received monthly accountings of all project expenses, which allowed me to track expenses and project future costs. His kindness and caring approach was prevalent throughout the process and his attention to detail in getting things ‘done right’ was immensely appreciated. My house turned out wonderfully and the process was as easy and painless (and fun) as a remodel can be.

Solar Home

From the very first phone conversation with Barry Schram to the move into our house, we had a very positive and rewarding experience working with Barry and his team of professionals. We had assembled and developed a checklist of features we wanted in our home covering everything from green building techniques and materials to indoor air quality standards to active/passive solar features.

Barry worked with us and our checklist to develop a strategy that met our goal of an energy-efficient, healthy, and sustainable house with a balance for affordability. We have a home that was built sustainability and that is very comfortable year around, healthy to live in and extremely energy efficient.

Barry’s business practices made the building process easy and pleasant. He gave us good advice, noting the benefits and drawbacks of each decision that we sought his advice on. The budget and payment process was open and easy to follow, keeping us advised on how we were doing with the construction costs related to each and every building step.

Barry’s estimated costs in the budget were quite accurate, so there were no unforeseen surprises. The attention to detail, even before actual construction began, helped to keep the project flowing and on time. Barry’s management of the schedule and the sub-contractors’ schedules was excellent. The sub-contractors that he referred us to were knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant to work with.

We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Barry Schram and Lamar Valley Craftsman as your builder.

We just thought Barry was great from the beginning. He just seemed to be knowledgeable, pleasant, and willing to take on a project that was a pretty big project. Barry is very, very meticulous and detail oriented, and he has good people working for him. He expects quality, and I feel that we got it.

Barry got us a budget, stuck with it, and was very honest about it throughout the whole process. He was completely transparent with everything financially, and that is what you want.

Deck Remodel

My husband and I began our business relationship with Barry Schram of Lamar Valley Craftsman in the spring of 2011.  We hired Barry as the general contractor for our deck project.   His policy of having his clients pay only exactly the amount his subcontractors charge set Barry apart from the other contractors that we considered for the job.

Barry had a set fee for his services, and then provided copies of each and every invoice that he received from his subcontractors.  Barry’s open book policy gave my husband and me peace of mind.

As we began to work together, my husband and I observed Barry’s strong work ethic and professionalism.  We also observed and appreciated the mutual respect and trust that was very apparent between Barry and all of his subcontractors.

Each and every person who was at our home working on the project was respectful, pleasant and patient.  Working with Barry on our deck project was a pleasure.  We have thoroughly enjoyed using our deck since it was built.  Family members and friends have all commented on the beauty and functionality of our wonderful new deck.   We will enjoy it for many years to come.
